Gemma joined us in 2016 and started as our business and administration apprentice. Gemma is such a conscientious worker that we very quickly knew we wanted her to stay on after her apprenticeship finished. Gemma is likely to be the person on the other end of the phone when you call Archway.
In Gemma’s own words…
What did you do before joining Archway?
Before joining Archway I was a student Bournemouth and Poole college studying BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts whilst gaining experience in a variety of different jobs such as retail, administration, animal carer and hairdressing. My two years as a student helped me gain more confidence and knowledge performing on stage, which I believe has made me believe in myself to achieve targets and goals. I have performed in a musical ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, and two dance shows ‘Dracula Untold’ and ‘Peter Pan’. I have always been interested in working in administration and Archway has given me the best opportunity to attempt new things in the business environment.
What do you enjoy about working here?
Archway Financial Solutions is a humble office where there is no down side to working. The staff at Archway Financial Solutions are not just colleagues, but family. When support is needed, everyone lends a shoulder for one another to lean on. Every day, my knowledge and confidence is increasing, and I am thankful to everyone at Archway for that.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I used to be the captain of a girls football team at my former school, as well as playing for Mudeford Phoenix Flyers girls football club where I used to be a defender, goal keeper and sometimes an attacker. Unfortunately I gained many injuries from playing football which forced me to give it up. I now participate in intense boxing which includes shadow boxing, at least 150 sit ups with 20kg weights, 45 degrees to an inch sit ups, sparring, using boxing pads and bags; a proper workout!
I also enjoy going to the cinema to watch comedies and thrillers, and at home I enjoy attempting to cook.. (thankfully my home is still standing!) as well as creating dance choreography to classical and contemporary music.
