Michelle joined the family firm in June 2006 and has worked her way up from administrator to Senior Manager over the years. She helps run the business and enjoys the day to day challenges that this brings. Michelle often fails at resisting the cake that is brought into the office, despite best intentions.
What did you do before joining Archway?
I went to university in Plymouth and studied Psychology for three years. Having decided that Psychology wasn’t a field I wanted to work in long term I worked for several financial institutions (Abbey Life, Natwest and Clerical Medical) before deciding I wanted to be on the ‘other side of the fence’ and work in a financial adviser’s office. Dad had an opportunity to join him, so I did and have never regretted the decision.
What do you enjoy about working here?
Mainly the people – we’re not just a working team, we’re a family. We work hard, we banter, we laugh and it is a pleasure to come into work. I also love the variety of the job. I could be networking at a hotel one day, in a client meeting the next and in the office the next. Sometimes it’s all of these in one day, and it makes the days fly by.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, including going swimming and out to local attractions.
I also enjoy travelling when I get the chance, and have been to Australia, Italy and the Caribbean in recent years.
Michelle’s expertise lies in keeping the business ticking over, management of staff, and being the compliance officer.
